Alison Van Pelt (b. 1963, Hollywood, California)
Alison Van Pelt’s paintings exist in the charged space between presence and absence—between clarity and blur, realism and abstraction. Her evocative works, often depicting female figures and ethereal nudes, invite quiet contemplation and emotional resonance.
Rooted in a lifelong practice of both art and introspection, Van Pelt’s creative voice was shaped by a cross-cultural upbringing and early exposure to Eastern philosophy, yoga, and classical painting. She received formal training at UCLA, ArtCenter College of Design, Otis College of Art and Design, and the Florence Academy of Art in Italy.
Today, Van Pelt’s work is part of major museum and private collections around the world, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Long Beach Museum of Art, and Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Her paintings also appear in distinguished private holdings such as those of President Bill and Hillary Clinton, Sting and Trudie Styler, and the Estate of Princess Diana.
Her signature blurred technique—both haunting and serene—offers a meditative exploration of identity, femininity, and perception. SD Art Advisory is honored to offer a rare work from a private collection: Red Nude (2015), an elegant example of Van Pelt’s luminous and layered approach to the female form.
